Resurrecting a revered microphone with new tricks for its EMI Abbey Road Studios product line, the Chandler Limited TG Type L Microphone is a large-diaphragm FET condenser microphone that features the larger-than-solid-state sound and flexibility of its utility and robust. Just like the celebrated original, the TG Mic Type L features the Dual Tone System for two different input stages, but with modifications, for greater versatility: System A delivers a forward, harmonically rich midrange sound for wonderful vintage warmth, while the System BA configuration provides clearer, more transparent sound with extremely high SPL resistance.

The TG Mic Type L utilizes a cardioid pickup pattern for greater directivity and avoiding unwanted sounds from the back and sides. The built-in -10 dB pad lets you control excessively loud sounds, eliminating distortion. The transducer is a custom design with gold sputtering for high conductivity and corrosion resistance. This microphone includes a swivel stand adapter and a hard bamboo case.

History of TG
In 1968, EMI/Abbey Road Studios saw a shift from valve-driven REDD recording and mixing consoles to the TG12345 transistor desk. The EMI TG12345 transistor recording console with expanded EQ and, for the first time, a compressor/limiter on each channel, would forever leave its sonic mark on the Beatles' “Abbey Road” and Pink Floyd's “Dark Side of the Moon” albums. , as well as recordings by Paul McCartney, John Lennon and George Harrison.

Designed in 1967, TG mixing and mastering consoles would undergo many revisions throughout the 1970s before being removed from service in 1983. TG consoles were built by EMI exclusively for their studios and were never commercially available.

A studio workhorse
The TG Type L Microphone is cardioid and designed as a utilitarian recording studio workhorse. The Type L is capable of rivaling scenarios where the C414, FET47, U87, U67 and C12 have traditionally found favor and can replace the practice of employing a dynamic and ribbon in combination in guitar cabinets.
