Available for download, FabFilter Saturn 2 is a distortion and harmonic saturation plug-in intended for sound design, mixing, and even mastering.
The Saturn 2 builds on the original Saturn to add a number of new features as well as improvements that enhance its operation and sound.
Like the original, the Saturn 2 is a multiband distortion engine, with the ability to select frequency bands and adjust them as you see fit. Like the original, the Saturn 2 offers multiple distortion types, an easy-to-use graphical interface, and comprehensive modulation opportunities.
Each of these fundamental elements has been improved in this latest version. The GUI has been carefully redesigned, offering a darker color scheme for easier visibility in long sessions, and four resizable interface sizes are available. The modulation options are still endless, but viewing them in the GUI has now been greatly improved, with animated, color-coded responses that make your routing crystal clear. You can now curve the attack, release and decay stages of the envelope generator. The Envelope Follower has a transient detection mode to track the drums. The XLFO section now features legato MIDI triggering and routing for smoother operation in the Frequency Offset and Balance parameters.
As for distortion types, well, Saturn now offers 28 distortion types, up from 16 previously. You'll find subtle versions of Tape, Tube, and Saturation that will find a home in mastering contexts as well as guitar amp styles. distortion. You'll even notice complicated new distortion methods that harm your sound by changing pitch.
This plugin is available for Mac and Windows operating systems. It will work in VST, VST3, AU, AAX and AudioSuite formats.
