Unique all-pass filter design
Unlike typical phase alignment solutions that operate by flipping the phase of a signal by 180 degrees or aligning signals by applying delay, X-Phase utilizes an innovative all-pass filter design that can adjust phase incrementally and in bands. specified frequency.
The idea behind the X-Phase's all-pass filter design is that when recording with multiple microphones at different distances from a sound source, the waveforms do not move evenly out of alignment. For example, when miking the top and bottom of a snare drum, it is common to invert the phase of one of the microphones so that they are aligned. However, the signals from the upper and lower battery box are not exact inverses of each other; they contain different harmonic content and therefore have unique waveforms. So while flipping the phase by 180 degrees can bring the signals closer to approximate alignment, it can inadvertently cause blend filtering in specific frequency bands, which will make them thinner. X-Phase eliminates this compromise, allowing you to identify problematic frequencies and leave others alone for a new level of realism.
