Enter Slate Digital's custom series equalizer. For the custom EQ, Slate Digital studied more than a dozen classic analog EQs, identifying the best attributes of each and grouping them into an EQ. Each band of the custom EQ has its own individually modeled boost circuit, its own distinct attenuation characteristics, and even a unique analog modeled output section with smooth, musical-sounding harmonics that give it a vibrant analog feel.

Custom EQ is like an All-Star EQ team. During development, we studied over a dozen classic analog EQs to identify the best attributes of each, and then took all of those attributes and put them into a single EQ plug-in.

As a result, every Custom EQ band was inspired by a different original device and has its own unique fade and boost design.

Each band even has its own analog-model output section, with rich musical harmonics to give a lively analog vibe. Although it's a hybrid design in nature, the Custom Series EQ is one of the most natural-sounding equalizers you'll hear.

THE BIGGEST EQs

Unlike the individual equalizers that inspired it, the custom series equalizer does not need to conform to the limitations of analog circuit design. Each band was inspired by the sound and design of a different classic analog equalizer, and unlike real devices, each band has its own circuit topology and behaves differently when boosting or cutting.

The result is an EQ that can do amazing things - it can add air to dull tracks by adding 10db of 15K without getting shrill (like some passive tube EQs), reduce brittle harshness in a vocal by clipping 2K without losing clarity (like some high-end parametrics) and add low-end girth, adding 100 Hz without becoming a tubby.

ADD CLARITY AND WORSHIP

The Custom Series Lift Processor is a parallel boost-only filter based on passive designs and can add real life and girth to your tracks.

High Lift allows the top end to be opened up in a natural way, adding air and space to the resulting sound. The Present and Silky knobs adjust the shape of the high frequencies to be more or less forward without ever being harsh or shrill.

Low Lift injects natural low energy, and is magical on anemic bass guitars and kick drums. The Big and Punchy knobs shape low-frequency and transient information in two distinct ways; so experiment to see which works best on the track in question.
