At its core, Mic Room is about improving the versatility and sonic flexibility of your own collection of physical microphones. It is a T-RackS module, so it can be used both as a standalone and as a configurable plug-in. For best results, apply this module to individual tracks in your mix that contain audio recorded from a microphone, such as vocals, acoustic guitar, or drum tracks.
Once inserted into the track, select the microphone used to capture the original audio. All Mic Room microphone models can be selected as source microphones. You can then choose a new microphone to re-mike the characteristics of your original recording to arrive at the specific nuance and tonal character of the microphone you want for your mix.
In addition to its high-fidelity sound, Mic Room also comes with a number of additional tone control features that are designed to enhance your recording experience.
The proximity adjustment effect emulates the “proximity effect” that occurs when the source and microphone are close to each other. Adjust it to make it sound as if the source was glued into the mix to achieve the rich, vibrant timbres associated with “FM radio vocals.” Or, alternatively, you can take bass frequencies by turning the control counterclockwise.
The harmonic content adjustment effect gives you total control and rich harmonic complexity from condenser to valve. This control allows you to add saturation, personality and texture to your recordings.
