Add legendary Leslie® tone to your mix
IK Multimedia, Hammond USA and Suzuki Music Corp. from Japan have come together to bring you nothing less than the best Leslie sound from around the digital world, giving you 5 legendary Leslie® amplifiers and 6 cabinets in one powerful module, which you can now use inside your mixing and mastering workstation. T-RackS 5 to shape the sound in your recordings.
The amplifiers were recreated thanks to IK's innovative Dynamic Interaction Modeling™ technology, which can analyze and model the behavior of each electronic component in the circuit, as well as their interactions with each other, thus reproducing the exact behavior of the entire system in a dynamic and not linear.
The cabinets, in turn, were recreated using Volumetric Response Modeling, IK's proprietary technology, which includes the modeling of some parts and captures the real audio behavior of each model by miking the cabinets in a high-quality room to extract the essence of its original timbre. Only this approach can deliver digital Leslie models that are indistinguishable from the originals when placed in the same room and miked in the same way. This occurs because the cabinets are quite complex to reproduce in the digital environment due to the number of time-varying effects that occur simultaneously in the sound, during the rotation of the rotors.
You can think of these Leslie digital models as providing real audio recordings from the cabinets, they are much more than emulation algorithms!
Leslify your songs
T-RackS Leslie is ideal for all sources, not just organs and keyboards. It is a very powerful creative tool in applications ranging from playing and mixing to sound design! Try it on guitars, synths from the Syntronik collection, vocals, backing vocals, drums, percussion and more, even as a parallel processor inside a T-RackS channel for never-before-heard effects.
The interface
The module is visually divided into 3 parts, one of which has 3 different pages. The first part is dedicated to controls. This is where most of the amplifier and cabinet adjustments happen, and it is divided into 3 pages: Setup, Amp and EQ.
The Slow/Fast control is always visible at the bottom of the controls for easy access, with BRAKE as an external control. On the setup page you have control over parameters such as microphone configuration and distance, drum (deflector) and horn rotation speed, as well as rotation acceleration and deceleration. If you're looking for a nice vintage flavor to the sound, you can use the spring button to add a spring reverb before the amp.
The “Amp” button will display the specific amplifier controls associated with each included model. This covers Gain, High-Pass Filter, Volume, Contour (amount of preamp tube heat), Tube Drive (amount of distortion), and Tube Mode (type of distortion).
The EQ section features a full parametric EQ that lets you shape your sound. The central part of the module allows you to view and select amplifier and cabinet models, as well as vary the position of the microphones, which impacts the perception of rotation, or “Doppler effect”. You can vary the position between 90°, which is the most common and gives a non-symmetrical perception of rotation, or 180°, which is less common but heard in many famous recordings.
The third “portion” of the module is the mixer view, where you have complete control over the mix of the four microphone channels used when capturing the Leslie speakers. Each channel has its own volume and pan control so you can adjust the Leslie mix to your liking. You can for example tune the drum using just one channel positioned in the center to get solid, monophonic bass frequencies, and use the horn in stereo, or you can get real '70s sonic flavor right away by just using one mic on the top and one on the bottom. from below positioned slightly apart, just to mention another example.
