Classic American EQ is what the EQ PA module is about. Its three-band proportional Q design - the result of an ingenious mind and clever engineering - saw it progress very quickly to the position of a ""go to"" equalizer on many custom modular consoles of the late '60s and '70s. IK Multimedia meticulously modeled all of the custom op-amp-based circuits to reveal the sonic goodness and detail that has made this module ubiquitous in any major record production for tracking and mixing tasks.
Three bands of sonic excellence for a total of twenty-one frequencies facilitate repeatability and their careful selection allows for extremely musical results. The PA EQ features several ""IK-style"" digital domain enhancements to a time-honored sonic impression, where the frequency and gain knobs have been separated for improved usability and at-a-glance. The advantage of the T-RackS format creates a clear and less confusing interface that is far superior in ease of use.
The gain of each band has a resolution of 1 dB, making it easy to find "" between "" boosts or cuts where 2 DBS may be too few and 4 dBs too much. The resolution becomes 1.5dBs at the top of the button pitch.
Switching the outer bands from peak mode to shelf mode is the key to achieving an extremely low level of fat on the kick drums and highlighting the """" punch""""" when boosting in the 40 to 50Hz zone; reaching 10 to 15kHz will elevate the airy top end on acoustic guitars or vocals, while still maintaining all of the analog character that EQ is world-renowned for.
Special care was taken to ensure that the proportional design of the Q and the EQ curves matched closely, so that the boost or cut is wider with smaller amounts of gain and becomes clearer as the level increases - a filter Additional selectable ""bandpass"", achieved with the combination of high-pass and low-pass filters, completes the set.
As already done with previous models in the T-RackS CS line, IK Multimedia has made an extra effort to make the PA EQ unique: in addition to the three-band EQ, the module has a preamplifier stage, which will further expand the tonal variations.
From clean gain adjustments to recorded distortion, its input and output knobs can be configured to add subtle characters or wild sonic textures and unlock creativity during recording or mixing sessions. This puts the T-RackS EQ PA ahead of the curve.
