IK Multimedia AmpliTube Leslie
Amplitube Leslie
As real as possible. The best sounding Leslie models in digital format, period.
AmpliTube Leslie® is the result of an exclusive collaboration between the IK Multimedia team, Hammond USA and Suzuki Music Corp. from Japan with the aim of perfectly recreating, for the first time, the authentic and true sound of Leslie® amplifiers and cabinets in the digital world.
Thanks to the powerful combination of IK's Dynamic Interaction Modeling™ and Volumetric Response Modeling™ technologies, which can reproduce the subtlest interactions of an electronic circuit down to its smallest component and recreate the real acoustic behavior of rotating speaker cabinets, the teams at IK and Hammond have succeeded where everyone else inevitably failed.
The result is not a mere emulation of reality, however close to the original it may be, it is a demanding digital recreation, carrying the official Leslie® seal as a guarantee of the undisputed excellence of what is the definitive Leslie collection for the most demanding producers, composers, keyboardists, guitarists and singers.
AmpliTube Leslie brings you the authentic, certified sounds of 5 Leslie amplifiers and 6 Leslie rotating speaker cabinets that you can use to record into your DAW or perform live, taking advantage of AmpliTube's world-class 64-bit processing.
From controlling microphone position and distance, precise balance of volumes, different combinations of amplifiers and cabinets, circuit overdrive, width, rotary speaker acceleration and deceleration control, balance between horn and drum and more, you have everything you need to give your recordings the unmistakable sparkle, charm, growl, personality and attitude that are integral to the Leslie sound.
The amplifiers
AmpliTube Leslie has a distinct advantage over its competitors with its modeled circuit amplifiers that are critical to recreating the signature tone of these incredible units, especially when overdriving the amplifier circuit, typical of genres such as rock and blues.
IK's innovative Dynamic Interaction Modeling technology can analyze and model the behavior of each electronic component in the circuit, as well as the interactions between them, thus reproducing the exact behavior of the entire system in a non-linear and dynamic way.
The cabinets
Leslie cabinets are very complex to reproduce in the digital environment because a number of time-varying effects happen to the sound simultaneously during the rotation of the rotors. This includes the Doppler effect, continuous and smooth variable delay, frequency and phase response, as well as reverb and variable reflections within the cabinet walls, and that's just the beginning.
These complex machines were recreated using Volumetric Response Modeling, IK's innovative proprietary technology, which includes modeling some parts and capturing the actual behavior of the audio by miking the cabinets in a high-quality room to extract the essence of their original tone. . Only this approach can deliver digital Leslie models that are indistinguishable from the originals when placed in the same room and miked in the same way. You can think of these digital Leslie models as providing real audio recordings of real cabinets, they are much more than emulation algorithms!
The singing tone of these legendary cabinets is finally captured and placed at your fingertips.
Additionally, all horns and drums are recorded in stereo, making it possible to mix the four microphones however you prefer to fit the needs of any production. All controls are divided into three pages: Setup, Channels and EQ, with the speed control always visible for quick access.
Leslie 122
The classic of classics.
Suitable for pop, rock, jazz and blues, when you think of the “Leslie sound,” you’re probably thinking of the 122.
A vintage unit from the early 70s was modeled here, and this one has a slightly warmer sound when compared to the 122A
Leslie 122A
The Leslie 122A is the modern take on the most famous Leslie model, with a balanced amplifier input and a mid-high cabinet that provides incredible bass response.
It has a slightly more open and forward sound when compared to the classic 122.
Leslie 147
The Leslie 147 is another classic Leslie model with a different connector, slightly different power amplifier, unbalanced input to the amplifier, and slightly shorter cabinet. The sound in general is quite similar to the classic 122 but with some noticeable and musically relevant differences. The unit that was modeled is a vintage unit from the mid-60s, without reflectors on the horns, which gives another flavor to the sound and an even more tangible sonic direction of the classic 122.
Model 122/122A/147 amplifiers share the following controls:
- GAIN: controls the amount of signal going to the amplifier and the saturation level.
- VOLUME: controls the amount of signal going into the cabinet.
- INPUT HPF: controls the frequency of the high-pass filter of the input signal.
Leslie 3300w
The Leslie 3300w is one of the most powerful models ever made, featuring a 300 Watt RMS solid-state amplifier with a real tube preamp.
Its sonic signature is especially suited to pop, rock, jazz and blues.
Controls
- GAIN: controls the amount of signal going to the amplifier and the saturation level.
- VOLUME: controls the amount of signal going into the cabinet.
- TUBE DRIVE: controls the amount of signal being “heated” by the valve section.
- TUBE MODE: controls the amount of saturation per valve, from Soft to Hard.
Leslie G37 / Studio 12
Guitarists of all types praise the G37 for its unmistakable sonic characteristics.
The integrated solid-state guitar amp with its tube preamp section can go from crystal clear to dirty, for a range of tonal nuances that only Leslie speakers can deliver through a compact two-rotor cabinet with vintage V30 speaker 12” made for guitar.
The Studio 12, designed as a more portable amp for keyboard players, also uses a tube amp in a dual-rotor design, but with a 12” Eminence bass speaker made for the wider bass frequency range of organs.
