The Neumann MA 1 Monitor Alignment Microphone and Calibration System is designed to help engineers, musicians and producers achieve more accurate and sonically consistent mixes from their Neumann KH 80 DSP monitors or KH Series non-DSP monitors when used with the KH 750 DSP subwoofer.
The system uses an omnidirectional measurement microphone and downloadable software for Mac and Windows with Fraunhofer IIS algorithms to calibrate and adjust the phase and amplitude of the speakers to compensate for room imperfections.
- Adjusts Phase and Amplitude for Room
- Helps you achieve accurate and consistent mixes
- For DSP KH 80 monitors
- For KH 750 DSP Sub and KH series monitors
- Omnidirectional Calibration Microphone
- Fraunhofer IIS calibration algorithms
- Settings stored on DSP monitors
- Includes SG105 microphone clip
The system is easy to use; simply connect the balanced outputs of your audio interface or monitor controller to your KH monitors. Connect the Ethernet ports of your DSP-based displays to a network switcher (available separately), then route the switcher's output to your computer.
Plug the calibration microphone into a microphone input on your interface (48V phantom power required) and follow the calibration process in your software. An SG105 microphone clip is included for mounting the microphone to a stand.
MA 1 software algorithms use the measurements to adjust speaker settings to a room-specific target curve that compensates for room acoustic flaws. All correction parameters are stored in the speaker DSP, so it's always there without the need to worry about plugins and driver issues. Plus, once calibrated, you won't need an Ethernet connection.
As mentioned, you can also calibrate non-DSP KH monitors as long as you are also using a KH 750 DSP subwoofer. The KH 750 DSP has enough processing power to align the entire system, including the two analog speakers connected to its outputs. The KH 120, KH 310 and KH 420 speakers benefit from the linerization of their integrated crossovers for greater clarity, clearer bass and more accurate timing correction.
