Auto recording mode for hands-free recording
Want your TASCAM DR-40X to start recording when it receives an audio signal, without having to put your hands on it? Just activate automatic recording mode. You'll be able to set a threshold at which point you'll start recording — as soon as your microphones or audio inputs detect an audio signal above that threshold, recording will begin.
Built-in microphones, plus inputs for your mics and instruments
Many musicians love using handheld recorders like the TASCAM DR-40X as a quick and easy way to record song ideas, band rehearsals, and more. Simply use the built-in condenser microphones to capture a studio-quality stereo recording. Its XLR microphone inputs with phantom power let you use your own microphones too, or in conjunction with the built-in microphones for four-track recording. You can even connect your guitar or bass directly to the TASCAM DR-40X.
