At first glance, the X-ValveComp looks like other versatile compressors, with all the features you'd expect: threshold, ratio, knee, attack, release and hold controls; sidechain with highpass and lowpass filters; and makeup gain control. However, when you switch it to valve mode, it transforms into an entirely different animal, full of rich second-order harmonics and a smooth vintage flavor. Use the X-ValveComp's wet/dry button to run it in parallel directly on the track you're processing, without having to send it to a separate bus, a la New York-style compression.
Compress your drums, bass, or vocals for more weight, and place the processed signal below the original track to preserve transients and articulation. Full of character and texture, the X-ValveComp is the perfect tool for adding depth and impact to your mix.
